Most cleaning schedules treat every room the same — a once-a-week top-to-bottom pass. That wastes effort on rooms that don't need it weekly and under-serves the ones that do. Frequency should follow actual use and moisture, not a flat calendar.
Daily or near-daily
Kitchen counters and sinks, high-traffic entryways, and bathroom surfaces in a busy household or office. These accumulate bacteria and grime fast enough that a weekly clean leaves days of buildup in between. In Calgary specifically, entryways need extra attention from late October through March — road salt and slush tracked in on boots eats away at flooring finishes if it sits.
Weekly
- Bathrooms — full clean including toilets, tubs/showers, and mirrors
- Kitchen floors and appliance exteriors
- Vacuuming carpets and area rugs in main living spaces
- Dusting surfaces and electronics
- Trash and recycling removal
Monthly
- Baseboards, door frames, and light switch plates
- Inside the microwave and around stovetop knobs
- Ceiling fans and vents — dust builds up faster than it looks
- Behind and under furniture that doesn't move often
Seasonally (2–4 times a year)
This is where a deep clean earns its name: inside the oven, behind appliances, window tracks, closets, and carpet steam cleaning. Spring is the natural trigger point in Calgary — it's when winter salt residue, dry indoor heating dust, and months of accumulated grime all show up at once. A lot of clients book their deep clean the same week they do a spring wardrobe swap.
For offices and commercial spaces
Shift the categories, not the logic: washrooms and break rooms are your daily-equivalent zone, floors and common areas are weekly, and a full deep clean — carpets, high dusting, deep-scrub washrooms — is worth scheduling quarterly or after any event that brings in extra foot traffic.
